The
most compelling image for me has always been the human
figure.
There is no limit to the scope of exploration and expression
in figuration.
Essential to
my process is the study of anatomy since I work from
observation, memory, imagination and digital photography as reference. I blend the basic elements of classical painting with my own sense of figurative art and the human condition. Much of my work is based in porturiture but it is not confined by that description.
My art is based in drawig which I find to be indispensible to my process and as an activity of the imagination.
My subjects
are recycled images of figures I find by chance, memories of experiences from my life, observation form my day to day and things I imagine. I then
reassemble them to give voice to my expression.
What turns me on as a figure painter is expressing a
sensation on a canvas so that others can
then recreate it for themselves with their own palette
of perceptions and imagination. I want the work to be interactive in that sense.
